Innovative application of silicone resin in LED packaging materials

The synthesis process of phenyl silicone resin has been continuously optimized and innovated.A common method is to use tetraphenylcyclotetrasiloxane and vinyl double-head as raw materials. Under the action of an alkali catalyst, the polymerization reaction is carried out for 6 to 8 hours in the temperature range of 80 to 100℃ to synthesize vinyl phenyl silicone oil.This silicone oil not only has a stable chemical structure, but also has excellent characteristics such as high refractive index and high light transmittance, which provides a solid foundation for LED packaging materials.


At the same time, in order to further improve the performance of the packaging material, the researchers have also developed a synthesis method of hydrogen-containing phenyl resin.The method uses phenyl trimethoxysilane and hydrogen-containing double-head as raw materials. Under the catalysis of hydrochloric acid, the reaction is at 70~80℃ for 3 hours, and then a pure hydrogen-containing phenyl resin is prepared by washing and distillation.This resin is combined with vinyl phenyl silicone oil, and through the curing reaction, it can form an LED packaging material with a high refractive index (>1.54), high light transmittance, good heat resistance and thermal shock stability.


These excellent properties make the application of silicone resin in LED packaging materials promising.The high refractive index means that the packaging material can better match the optical characteristics of the LED chip and improve the light extraction efficiency; the high light transmittance ensures that the light emitted by the LED can penetrate the packaging material to the maximum extent and reduce light loss; and good heat resistance and thermal shock stability ensure that the LED device can still maintain a stable working state under high temperature or severe temperature changes.


In addition, silicone resin also has good processability and plasticity, which can meet the requirements of different LED devices for the shape and size of the packaging material.This makes the application of silicone resin in the field of LED packaging more flexible and diverse.
