In 2026, organosilicon materials are rapidly shifting from traditional applications in construction and textiles toward high-tech, high-value sectors—with the new energy industry becoming the largest growth driver. According to BaiChuan Info research, in Q1 2026, new energy-related organosilicon consumption accounted for over 28% of total demand, up nearly 9 percentage points from 2024.
In the electric vehicle (EV) segment, per-vehicle organosilicon usage has significantly increased. For mainstream lithium iron phosphate (LFP) and ternary battery packs, flame-retardant addition-cure liquid silicone rubber (LSR) is now essential for cell module sealing, battery cell potting, and coolant line bonding. High-end models now use 1.8–2.5 kg of silicone per vehicle—nearly double the amount in 2024. Moreover, the adoption of 800V high-voltage platforms demands superior arc resistance, driving demand for vinyl-functional silicone oils and phenyl-modified silicones.
The photovoltaic (PV) sector is also contributing strong momentum. As N-type TOPCon and HJT cells gain market share—exceeding 55% in early 2026—module reliability requirements have intensified. Traditional EVA encapsulants are increasingly replaced by POE + silicone hybrid solutions. High-transparency, anti-PID (potential-induced degradation) organosilicon encapsulants have become standard among leading module makers. From January to February 2026, shipments of PV-grade silicone grew by 42% year-on-year.
