When a vehicle travels over a bumpy road, the stability and comfort felt by passengers are largely thanks to a special fluid inside the shock absorbers—high-viscosity dimethyl silicone oil. This silicone oil is the true "stable core" of the automotive chassis system.
Unlike ordinary lubricants, shock absorber oil needs to maintain consistent performance under extreme temperatures. High-viscosity dimethyl silicone oil has an exceptionally wide operating temperature range, from the frigid -40°C of northern winters to the high heat of 150°C in the engine bay, with minimal change in its viscosity. This outstanding thermal stability ensures consistent damping force from the shock absorber. When the wheel encounters an impact, the piston moves within a cylinder filled with silicone oil, forcing the oil through tiny valve orifices. The internal molecular friction of the oil converts the kinetic energy of the vibration into heat, which is then dissipated, effectively suppressing the vehicle body's bounce and oscillation. Compared to other oils, silicone oil also boasts excellent shear resistance and anti-oxidation capabilities, offering a long service life and reliably guaranteeing vehicle handling precision and ride comfort over the long term, making it the preferred choice for high-end and specialty vehicle suspension systems.
