Emerging sectors are becoming the core growth engine for the silicone industry, with new energy vehicles (NEVs) and photovoltaics contributing the main increments. Data show that traditional internal combustion engine vehicles use only 5–7 kg of silicone per car, mainly in areas such as rubber seals and tires. In contrast, NEVs, driven by the additional demand for battery potting adhesives, see per-vehicle usage surge to 24–25 kg—an increase of more than three times—boosting the industry’s annual growth rate to 5–6%.

Although domestic demand in the photovoltaic sector has declined, global total demand is rising, with overseas demand growing at approximately 20% per year, mainly for module frame connection adhesives. In the first three quarters of 2025, apparent domestic silicone consumption reached 1.62 million tons, up 5.5% year-on-year, with exports totaling 420,000 tons; full-year exports may exceed 500,000 tons. Traditional real estate is also benefiting from recovery policies, and is expected to maintain a 4–5% growth rate over the next 4–5 years. The combined support from both supply and demand is driving the industry’s overall prosperity upward.
