The #SolventFreeAdhesive trend exploded on Douyin, with views jumping from 8M to 42M in two weeks, driven by tightening VOC regulations. Yet most formulations overlook a critical enabler: low-viscosity silicone as an internal lubricant.
Without solvents, resin viscosities often exceed 10,000 cSt—too thick for coating or dispensing. Adding <50 cSt silicone reduces viscosity dramatically by acting as a molecular lubricant between polymer chains.
But caution is vital. Volatile or migratory silicones can bloom post-cure. Experts recommend high-flash-point (>250°C), end-capped PDMS types. Always validate with aging tests (e.g., 85°C × 7 days) to ensure no exudation. As one R&D lead put it: “Solvent-free doesn’t mean additive-free—it means smarter formulation.”
