As a top-selling phenyl silicone oil product in China, the IOTA-255 series from IOTA has been widely applied in high-temperature lubrication, electrical insulation, and special damping fields, gradually replacing some imported counterparts, thanks to its wide temperature adaptability, excellent comprehensive performance, and more competitive cost.

IOTA-255 is a type of synthetic silicone oil with polymethylphenylsiloxane as the main chain. Its typical technical indicators are as follows:

Appearance: Colorless or pale yellow transparent liquid (most batches are colorless and transparent after recent process optimization)

Viscosity range at 25℃: 50–1000 cSt (customizable on demand)

Relative density (25℃): 1.02–1.10 (slightly higher density than ordinary methyl silicone oil due to higher phenyl content)

Flash point (open cup): ≥ 300 °C

Pour point: ≤ –40 °C (some optimized models such as IOTA-255B can reach –70 °C or lower)

Refractive index (25℃): 1.4600–1.5150

This series of products has a wide operating temperature range of –70 °C to 320 °C. Some high-phenyl modified models (such as IOTA-255B) further extend the low-temperature limit to –120 °C. Its outstanding thermal stability, oxidation resistance, radiation resistance, and hydrophobic properties make it suitable for:

Lubricating medium for high-temperature chains, bearings, and vacuum equipment

Base oil for special greases

Insulation and heat dissipation filling for high-voltage electrical equipment

Damping and shockproof fluids in aerospace and nuclear industries

Notably, as a high-performance sub-model in the IOTA-255 series, IOTA-255B has superior lubrication performance compared to some foreign monophenyl structural products by increasing phenyl content and optimizing molecular structure. Meanwhile, benefiting from the continuous upgrading of domestic organosilicon synthesis equipment and purification processes, its production cost is significantly lower than that of imported counterparts, and its cost-performance advantage is increasingly prominent.

Currently, the IOTA-255 series is packaged in 25kg or 200kg clean iron drums, transported as non-dangerous goods, with a shelf life of 3 years at room temperature. A stable supply chain system has been established, serving customers in power, new energy, high-end manufacturing, and scientific research fields.

"In the past, such high-performance phenyl silicone oils were mostly dependent on imports. Now, the IOTA-255 series is not inferior to international brands in key indicators and has more flexible supply," said an equipment manufacturer who has long purchased the product.

With the increasing investment in high-temperature working condition equipment, extreme environment instruments, and independent and controllable material systems in China, mature domestic high-performance silicone oils verified by the market for a long time, such as IOTA-255, are gradually transforming from "optional" to "preferred" options.

Note: The IOTA-255 series is a mature product line under IOTA, which has been commercialized for many years. It is suitable for industrial and scientific research scenarios requiring wide temperature range, high stability, or lubrication needs.
